It's Wednesday!

Good evening!

ha ha... I always laugh when I write that cause I don't know when you will be reading this!  It may be morning, afternoon, or night.

Anyway!  Today seemed like it was going to spoil Whitney's plans for senior photos out at the farm house...

BUT we SUCCEEDED!!!!

It was absolutely beautiful, with all the warm colors of fall. The rustic look of the buildings and the fog that was settling in the hills made for amazing scenery.  I have to give lots of credit to Whitney for toughing it through the cold as everyone gets to do with sessions this time of the year. BURRrrrr....

Then into the studio to capture some of the amazing pieces of art work that you have done! You truly are talented and I hope you pursue it! Even if it is for personal use only!  You have a skill there!

Dawn thanks for all of your help! You are a wonderful chauffeur, clothes holder, blanket warmer, and well I could go on and on. Thanks!

I'm off to dinner tonight but will try to get some sneak peaks up for you!

I had a great time!

Michael

I have to tell you a little story about Michael's session....

His dad told me that he may be a bit shy when he came in. I was like, "Aren't we all when we go into a new experience?" Especially in his case when he was woke up from his 10 minute nap in the car and poked and prodded him to keep his head up and "wake up" for his session!

OH boy! His dad was very patient with the situation and there was that time in the forty minutes of attempting to wake him up and entice him into playing football with us that I thought, "this may not happen today as we planned!"

Then.... It all changed when I pulled out the BUBBLE BLOWER!!! It was like a switch flipped and he jumped off his dad's lap and was ready to do anything for that toy gun! HA ha

By the time his dad was trying to load him up to go, Michael wanted to stay and plan football with me! We were "hut, hut, hiking" it to each other! He's a sweetheart!

I absolutely love some of the images that we were able to capture from the session and it just goes to show that you don't stand in the way of a boy and his toys! Here's some of the fun ones that I wanted to share with everyone! Michael did a great job when we found the right distraction for him.

Thanks for bringing in your son Mike!

Alicia

Alicia's session was a wonderful exploration! We drove up into the hills, around town and finished up at the studio. She has some of the most amazing eyes and her naturally curly hair was adorable. Alicia had lots of ideas for her session and her laid back approach to life seems to show through the photos! I had a great day with you and your mom! Best of wishes in all you do. ENJOY!

Computer time!

Today and yesterday have been computer time! I believe that to some I may seem redundant... but I really have been blessed with some amazing clients to work with! Thank you! You all make my time behind the computer so much fun and make me smile still! I know the photographs that you see are documentations of your senior portraits at a time in your life when so many new things are on the horizon and the numerous things that you have out grown are starting to fade into the past that forms you, or for the weddings the glimpses at the moments that flew by on the day of the ceremony. If you are any bit like me I just want to relive everything again once I start thinking back and looking at the portraits! They show my the moments I may have over looked at the time or the ones I giggle at and wonder if I would have laughed then.

Either way....

Thank YOU!!! Thanks for being you and for trusting me to be a part of your very important memories!

Thursday Senior Madness!

Wow! Today was a great day with two wonderful senior girls!

We started the day off with Valerie at 9am this morning and went out to an abandoned farm house and barn. I think the high light came when Valerie wanted to have a dandelion blowing in her photo and well... we will just say that didn't happen. Her two sisters were the wonderful assistants for the morning. Chauffeuring us around, maybe the wrong way (!?!?!), but we always got to were we were going safely! Valerie, thanks for bringing in your TOTALLY AWESOME snowboard. That is the coolest one I've seen and you looked great in your dress and pink scarf!  Thank you ladies for all the memories and for the opportunity to photograph your senior portraits.

The weather today reaching high into the nineties didn't damper any of our fun and photos as Jessica came for her session at 2 this afternoon. We worked inside for a small amount of time and then headed up into the hills for some fun. Jessica was lucky to have her mom and friend come and help us out!  Kinlee thanks for being such a wonderful "light goddess" you did a fantastic job! I love your little giggle and the beautiful smile that is always on your face.  Jess, can't wait to get some photos up for you to look at. You are a sweetheart!  Thanks!

Cheers!

I'll get some sneak peaks up soon!

Caden & Corban TURN 2!!!

I have had the fun of photographing these two little boys since they were born! Today I got all sorts of kisses from Caden! They are just growing up. Every time they come in for a session I just can't believe how much taller and thinner they get. Their personalities are developing even more distinct too. I know their mom is gasping right now cause every time she leaves the session she says, "Did we get anything?" So here's to you Lindsey and all your patience as you have TWO little trouble makers!!! You know, I wonder what my mom would say if I told her the stories of these little twins and how they behave during photos! I'm pretty sure she would say that she didn't even try to attempt to take my twin sister and I to get photos at this age. We were mommy's little girls! Ha ha good memories! Here's the proof that you can have some wonderful images of your children at any age! Enjoy!

The week after being gone!

I always prepare myself for the week after I get back from being gone that it will be kinda crazy!  I think I did a good job preparing myself for it this time except my computer is trying to make it a bit more interesting. Ha ha No worries though. I just turned it off and left for the night a bit earlier!!!  I play on a coed 6 on 6 sand volleyball league on Tuesday  nights and find that it is a relief to any technology stresses that creep into my days!  We had a tough time playing tonight because of all the moisture we've been getting the sand was soaked and didn't give to much when we went diving. I don't think I've had that much competition for over a year. It was a great night with two games back to back!  I know why I fell in love with this sport years ago!  On the photography side I have been working away on getting the wedding photos from the last two weddings ready for the couples to view.  I also got in a few more pieces of equipment for the studio which is super exciting. I think the term "multi-tasking" is merely a small indicator to what I've been doing the last two days. I mean I literally have two computers running with two to five programs on each, the new equipment laid out and ready for assembly, clients in and out, phone ringing, assembling equipment, orders to get ready for pick up.... it's awesome!!! I love it all!!!  Life is great and I think I just wanted to share the fact that everyday has something fun and exciting about it if you just take a step back and look. Today there were lots of great parts but if I didn't have photography to keep me busy I would have loved to be blessed with the talent to be a professional volleyball player!!!  Have a great one! Thanks for reading!

Jeremiah

Jeremiah came into with his twin brothers to get his 6 month photos! What a little sweetheart!!! I think that was one of the smoothest sessions. He just sat there and smiled and did his little thing. So here's a few of those photos to enjoy! Thanks for bringing him in Jaime!!

Dancing is so beautiful...

I have always enjoyed all areas of the fine arts but dancing.... I'll say it really can take your breath away. It's so beautiful how someone can move their body in such a smooth yet deliberate way to convey an emotion. I was given the priveledge to work with a young and very talented ballet dancer the other day. I think I stood around with a camera in my hand and my mouth dropped open as she went through parts of dances she has performed. WOW!!! If anyone ever has time to go to a ballet I would strongly recommend it! Thanks for the opportunity to capture these images Aly you have a wonderful talent!

One Year Photos

Saturday was the day to break in the hardwood floors in the studio! We had squirt bottles with water, bubbles everywhere and a little one year old running around checking things out. My nephew never stops surprising me at how fast his facial features mature and his ability to make me smile whenever he wants to! I look forward to all the stories and adventures to come in the studio with children! Thanks to my family for being the first!

Studio Location

What an exciting few weeks I've been having!  I just signed a lease on a studio downtown Rapid City and am in the process of decorating, painting and packing in all the equipment.  It is a fun and rewarding process for which I have to thank many of my friends for their support and helping hands!  THANK YOU thank you Thank you  Greatly appreciated!
