Bethany

WOW! What a fun, fun session we had! Bethany has such a relaxed and easy going attitude and we really go to play around with some fun things at her session. She wanted snow, so we found snow! I know you wouldn't think that would be hard in South Dakota this time of year, but it can be tricky!

Thanks for your free spirit and wonderful expressions! I had a great time working with you and capturing all your cute nose wrinkles too!

CHEERS!

Cute clothes, fabulous scarves, and wonderful smile!!!

Thank you for taking the stairs with me about a dozen times girls! I had a great day and enjoyed our chats and laughs. You two are a breath of fresh air!!!!

Mini Vacation!!!

Hello Hello!

Yes, I have to admit I took a mini vacation last week. I was really starting to miss my twin sister and so... I packed up my bags and hit the road! It was an amazing few days. I stopped in NE to "help" my dad buy calves and visit him for a day then drove over to my sisters in WY. We enjoyed catching up and really not doing much at all together besides cooking some amazing meals. ha ha... you know you try hard to not just eat when you are with your family but it never seems to go that way! We love to cook so that really gets us going in the wrong direction too! LOL

I attempted to work on some editing and designing there, but was not successful when it came to sending any of the work. Yes, I know in big cities you pay for internet at a coffee shop, but not where I live. So... after I paid for a block of internet service it was terribly slow. Needless to say I don't have a lot of patience for slow uploading and decided that work would just have to wait.

Before the final trek back home I was excited to make a stop off at my brother's home and visit him and the growing little family! My nephew is growing so fast and talking like crazy. I think we got to read the new farm book to him with the pop up photos at least ten times. Everytime he would make the noise for all the animals!!! So darn cute!!! I loved it!

Now I'm back and excited to share with all of you the fun and exciting photos from the past week or two.

Today I will be uploading some photos from Rachel's session that we finished yesterday. The first day her session was scheduled the weather was rainy and cold. We worked on her indoor photos and then post-poned the outdoor till last night. Let me tell you... if you weren't out last night it was a shame. It was absolutely beautiful. There was no wind and the colors are so warm and well kinda cozy!!! Rachel has one of the most natural smiles and cutest little nose wrinkles when she laughs really hard.
I had such a fun time on your session and was picking out stickers last night after we got back from the session. I hope you didn't have as much poking going on as me! Thanks for your free spirit and easy going with all the weather delays. I look forward to hearing from you in years to come with all you chose to pursue! Remember... You don't have to know what you want to do or be... you just follow your heart and start with the basics! You'll get there, I'm sure!!!

It's Wednesday!

Good evening!

ha ha... I always laugh when I write that cause I don't know when you will be reading this!  It may be morning, afternoon, or night.

Anyway!  Today seemed like it was going to spoil Whitney's plans for senior photos out at the farm house...

BUT we SUCCEEDED!!!!

It was absolutely beautiful, with all the warm colors of fall. The rustic look of the buildings and the fog that was settling in the hills made for amazing scenery.  I have to give lots of credit to Whitney for toughing it through the cold as everyone gets to do with sessions this time of the year. BURRrrrr....

Then into the studio to capture some of the amazing pieces of art work that you have done! You truly are talented and I hope you pursue it! Even if it is for personal use only!  You have a skill there!

Dawn thanks for all of your help! You are a wonderful chauffeur, clothes holder, blanket warmer, and well I could go on and on. Thanks!

I'm off to dinner tonight but will try to get some sneak peaks up for you!

I had a great time!

Burr...

The snow was falling... and I was screaming with excitement today during Shelby's senior photos!

I actually think it will continue to keep snowing into the evening and I look forward to hearing that Shelby and her mom and sister made it home safely to NE on these roads.

:) What a great SENIOR session! Her outfits were perfect, fun and colorful! We enjoyed the warmth of the studio for the larger majority of the session but then didn't let a lot of snow falling to stop our outdoor enthusiasm. LOL

Thanks to her wonderful sister and mom for their help and smiles!

Shelby is such a sweetie and you can't help but to get lost in her amazing eyes! Thanks for making the drive up her girls! I enjoyed all the new spots we were able to explore today... and yes... I LOVED the awesome snowflakes!!! I have to admit I jumped... and screamed with excitement at how I could actually see all the details to the snowflakes. I mean it was like all the clones we make of snowflakes really do look like the real thing! What an amazing gift that was created for us to enjoy!

... some more than others!!! Hee hee

Take care!

Enjoy your sneak peak...

Keep warm!

Mary

Yes, because of the weather today I am going to just stay inside out of the wind where it is nice and warm...

and update you with all the great sessions!!!

Here's a few of Mary's session! We went up into the hills and found some beautiful locations with great light. The evening couldn't have been any better weather. Mary you are one sweet girl and a joy to work with. Always keep that amazing outlook in life!!!

Enjoy!

Fall is Here!

Good morning... afternoon... evening... whenever you read this I guess!!!

I have to say I love fall... I just love the warm colors, the changing of bright green leaves to bright yellow, orange, and red. I enjoy cuddling up in a blanket with a warm cup of hot cocoa. It's always fun to put away the summer clothes and get out the long sleeve wardrobe and heavier layers!

But...

The darn wind and chilly weather does make it a bit of an obstacle when it comes to outdoor portraits!

Yesterday was forecast as one of the last nice days we would be having because of a storm front coming in. It's was great when I received a call from my Hannah's mom to see if we could meet up yesterday afternoon for her senior session instead of this morning. We went ahead and rearranged our schedules and did just that!
It was a good thing we did cause...

They weren't joking either on the weather!!!

Today there is wind blowing like crazy the air is chilly and I hate to say this but the furnace at the studio is running!

A little bit more about Hannah's session....

We were on location and photographing about 2:15pm yesterday and it was great, hardly any wind and beautiful fall colors. We were laughing, smiling and really feeling blessed to have such a great day and getting to fit in the session just as we planned.

Ha ha

Then the wind came up like crazy... you'll see the awesome affect it had on Hannah's long hair!

I think it was... reminding us we are not in control!

The overall session was fantastic! I had such an enjoyable time working with them. We played with some fun ideas, explored around and made it into the studio right before it started raining! I was exposed to some new phrases that I have all but forgot!

Marilee, I will be calling you later to be reminded of those! OH... and to see what other posing ideas you may have thought of! hee hee

Thank you! I enjoyed myself very much and am grateful for your smiles and laughter!

Your sneak peak to come!

Bethany... 2010 Senior

I was trying to think of a good word to describe Bethany before I sat down to share a sneak peak of her Extreme Senior Session. I thought of "cute," but know she's more than cute! Then innocent but I'm sure her sisters would say that's not true! So I decided to say she's just adorably sweet!!!

That's two words but oh well!

LOL

Well you can see what you think from these few photos. The day was beautiful with only a few slight breezes. The temperature was perfect for fall clothes and the turning of the leaves was exciting to capture in a few of the photos.

Thanks for bringing in your last daughter Eunice!

I'm off to play some volleyball!

... enjoy!

Alicia

Alicia's session was a wonderful exploration! We drove up into the hills, around town and finished up at the studio. She has some of the most amazing eyes and her naturally curly hair was adorable. Alicia had lots of ideas for her session and her laid back approach to life seems to show through the photos! I had a great day with you and your mom! Best of wishes in all you do. ENJOY!

Catja...

Here's a sneak peak!

...to NE and Back...

Wow!!! It's been over a week since I have had a moment of time to actually set down and send out a message of what all I've been up to! It's great not having time to keep up with my blog cause that means I am really busy! Yippie!

The other good news with being busy are the portraits I will be sharing with you in a flood of images!!!

I will try to start from the last of it all.... Well maybe I will play a little catch up then get into more detail...

After Barry and Lacey's couples session for their one year I packed up the next day and watched as Trevin and Catrina exchanged wedding vows before their family and friends and then drove off in the coolest old car!  They topped off their night out at the Old Governor's Mansion with a great dance reception provided by Marek DJ Service's here in Rapid City. CONGRATS!  ... photos to come!

On Sunday the 30th of August I met Jay and Corinne at a beautiful flower garden for some time with the two of them before their amazing families showed up for photos. Yes, I do mean that your families were "amazing." It was a fun night with some dancing to top it all off! Corinne you were absolutely astonishing!

Then....  I had a fun packed week that led up to Ken & Effie's wedding at the park on Friday morning at 10am. I was thrilled when Effie called me to see if I would be interested in a small wedding out at the park with just the two of them and a couple that stood beside them.  It was probably more romantic and personal then they even know!  What a group! I enjoyed our laughs and will have to find out what you were doing to keep the laughs coming!  I hope your weekend away was relaxing.

And finally it was... Nebraska HERE I COME!!!

When I arrived in Chadron, I went to meet Catja and Senna for Catja's senior session. "Cat" as everyone calls her is the foreign exchange student from Denmark. She was an absolutely joy to work with! Thanks for calling Senna to set the session up!

It's always very special for me to go back "home" to NE and stop by and see my grandparents... so that's just exactly what I did!  I enjoyed a fresh dinner from my grandparents garden on Friday night and great conversation!  Love, LOVE, LoVe you two!  Thanks for always being so supportive and encouraging!  To finish off a very productive, exciting, two state day I went home to my dad's house and crashed.

Saturday, September 5th.... Wade and Megan were united in marriage with beautiful weather and amazing colors. I spent the entire day with Megan, as she finished up her hair, applied mascara, slipped into her dress and danced with her husband for the first time! Congrats and Cheers to the two of you! Thanks for having me be a part of your day!

.... yep... if you guessed...  I loaded up on Saturday night and went back to SD to get ready for the celebration of Bud and Irene's 60th Wedding Anniversary on Sunday! Their family and friends from all over came to celebrate the milestone Bud and Irene have reached.  I asked Irene how the last 60 years went and she said that, "Life isn't easy, and sometimes you have to fight for what you want, but it's wonderful in the end!"  Thanks for the privilege to document your milestone together!

I believe that is the best place for me to end.  The joy of photographing a couples announcement as husband and wife to the celebration of 60 years of marriage, I believe that is the specialist times in two peoples lives and I LOVE being there for that!

WEW....

That was an OUTSTANDING List of memorable events and celebrations. Thank you to all of you for your trust, joy and relationships as clients.

Kelsey

Kelsey came in to the studio last Friday for her session with some fun ideas for her senior photos. She wanted to light her soccer ball on fire, ride a bicycle and then we captured a portrait that was a family tradition. Her two sisters had their senior photos taken with similar settings, props, poses and we got it!!!  That evening to top off my great day with Kelsey I went to watch her play soccer.  Thanks for the invite Kelsey!  Great job!  I'll have some photos up to show you later...

Last night my friend had extra tickets to Blake Shelton in concert at the fair and I got to go use them!!! If you enjoy country music Blake Shelton is a wonderful entertainer and it's pretty awesome to see a musician like that. He sounded exactly like he did on the radio. No special computer effects!  He was pretty funny too as he explained to all of us his scare with coming up to SD and playing. Since he really never gets up here he figured no one would show up and then performing on a tuesday night it could really be bad! hee hee

He was happy to see all that turned up for the concert and cheered him on! So if you ever get a chance to see him... I would recommend it!

Have a great day!

Rose

I didn't know when we got in the car to take off down to the beautiful meadow by the creek that Rose was wanting two things in particular to happen at her session. Little did she know she would get both! It rained on us and she was in a meadow covered with wild flowers! The prom dress she wore in the meadow was stunning! It made her eyes really sparkle as she went walking through the tall grass and flowers. Rose you did a great job!!! Here's a few to look at!
